White Band Day and Edinburgh
![]()
Today is White Band Day
Tomorrow I'll be in Edinburgh for the MAKEPOVERTYHISTORY festival to call on the G8 to act for the poor on Aid, Trade, and Debt. We have already seen some movement on Aid and Debt - even if not as much as we hoped. But the big prize is Trade. Western agricultural and other export subsidies have to go.

We must stop all those disavantages! I really hope they'll drop the debt!

hi there,
I was at Edinburgh too, staying over with Quaker F/friends in the town centre.
Rather than leave our white banners on the gate at the Meadows, we drove out to Gleneagles to hang it on the railings outside... the security and stuff were scary, surveillance cameras everywhere, and road blocks in preparation. The 'press village' was huge, and very sophisticated.. The world will hear, but willl they listen?
But this has to be the wake up call that the G8 need to do something - NOW. The press say that 225,000 people were in the march at 3pm.
WE CANNOT BE IGNORED.
Amongst the MILLIONS of banners I liked...
FEED THE POOR, EAT THE RICH!
MAKE MUGABE HISTORY!
On a lighter note, tho, wasn't it a blast!
